What i have learnt about Photography in Lagos

Dynamic Urban Scenes

Lagos, Nigeria is an exploding city, full of living lives’ colors and rhythms. Each street corner and market stall on the other hand has a story to tell and my camera has been my guide through this alive tapestry. While I explored Lagos, I was not just taking pictures; I learned so much about the art of capturing moments that truly reflect a place’s essence.

Immersed in Lagos, you will sense its heartbeat pulsing through the energy of its streets. Balogun markets for instance are akin to whirlwind activities with vendors calling out their wares, shoppers haggling, and a symphony of sounds hanging in the air. Therefore, I have had to learn how to spot those fleetingly stolen moments that capture this bustling atmosphere. It is about finding beauty within chaos and embracing how the city’s constant motion can give life and narrative to a photograph.

Lagos also amazes one with its cultural vibrancy. For example, festivals like the carnival in Lagos and Afrobeats concerts are a haven for any photographer due to their bright colors, and amazing dance routines among others filled with happiness. To photograph such events requires that one pays close attention to what is happening during these festivities such as things like traditional attire featured by dancers or even general expressions passed along by them. Thus every shot tells something about Lagos’ cultural richness see more here

Photography in Lagos isn't an easy task but one thing about city life there is that it's quite fast indeed since instead of being overwhelmed by it, I embraced it such that thus captured candid moments that spoke volumes about the enthusiasm plus adrenaline rush emanating from every nook of this city.

Lagos's tropical climate creates unique lighting situations. It can be harsh at midday but there are ways around which include using shadows and reflections for example into my photos which add depth and dimensionality.
